Hello, fabulous readers! It’s your fellow mom of five boys, and I’m here to spill the tea on my post-corporate America wardrobe journey. After leaving the 9-to-5 grind to dive into the exhilarating world of entrepreneurship, I found myself in dire need of a wardrobe overhaul. My closet full of suits and pencil skirts suddenly seemed like relics of a bygone era. And with a post-baby body in tow, nothing seemed to fit right even after I lost weight.
Enter Stitch Fix and Nadine West, two styling services that promised to transform my look, and I didn’t even have to leave the house! I decided to sign up for both to give my readers the inside scoop on what a couple internet styling choices could offer. I needed to know, was it truly better to let someone else pick my clothes if it meant being able to avoid the mall, and which service worked best for me.
Unboxing Elegance:
- Stitch Fix: Opening a Stitch Fix box felt like unwrapping a luxurious gift. The packaging exuded sophistication, reflecting the high-end pieces nestled inside. It was a moment of pure indulgence that appealed to my inner fashionista.
- Nadine West: But oh, Nadine West won the packaging game hands down for me… because their packaging is pink, my favorite color!
Personalization and Style:
- Stitch Fix: This veteran in the styling game impressed me with its comprehensive style quiz. It delved deep into my preferences, considering not just my body shape but also my lifestyle, fashion tastes, and the chaos that comes with being a mom of five. My stylist seemed to understand my need for both comfort and style, and the selections I received reflected that.
- Nadine West: On the other hand, Nadine West’s approach felt more budget-friendly and straightforward. While the style quiz wasn’t as extensive as Stitch Fix’s, it still managed to capture my basic preferences. The pieces I received were more casual and easygoing, perfect for any mom who’s always on the move. But they didn’t seem to be picked specifically for me.
Affordability vs. Quality:
- Stitch Fix: Quality comes at a price, and Stitch Fix embodies this philosophy. The pieces were undeniably higher in quality, making them investment-worthy for those occasions where a polished look was non-negotiable.
- Nadine West: Nadine West leans towards the more budget-friendly side, making it an attractive option for moms who are watching their wallets. The pieces were more affordable without compromising too much on quality, making it a great choice for everyday wear.
Options Galore:
- Stitch Fix: While Stitch Fix impressed with quality, only receiving 5 items made it difficult to really put pieces together to create a full styled look. At the price point, however, I could understand how adding more pieces would really drive up the cost of keeping the entire look that was sent. For some clients though, it may have been worth it!
- Nadine West: The variety and number of items was a standout feature. Every Nadine West shipment felt like a mini shopping spree, as it included more pieces at a more budget-friendly price point. I really loved getting a lot of pieces to unwrap and explore, but honestly, they didn’t always go together. Plus, half of the box was usually filled with items I would have NEVER picked or worn.
Accessory Conundrum:
- Stitch Fix: Stitch Fix focused on clothing, sticking to what they did best. The absence of unnecessary extras was appreciated, allowing me to concentrate on curated clothing selections tailored to my style. However, in the last shipment, I received the CUTEST pair of gray booties! It was such a welcome surprise and they fit my wardrobe perfectly, great job Stitch Fix!
- Nadine West: On the flip side, Nadine West included jewelry in every shipment. Unfortunately, I wasn’t looking for jewelry and there was no way to request them not to include these options. And I honestly felt like the pieces were cheap and boring. The thoughtful accessory inclusion might appeal to many, but for me, it was a miss.
Flexibility, Feedback and Returns:
- Stitch Fix: The convenience of Stitch Fix’s home try-on service was a game-changer. I had the freedom to try on the pieces, mix and match with my existing wardrobe, and decide what worked best for me. Returns were hassle-free, and the feedback I provided after each box helped my stylist understand my evolving style. By the 3rd box, even though I chose not to purchase it all, I absolutely loved each piece and even Luis commented, “Oh this is Diana”. I felt like they were truly starting to understand who I am and were sending pieces they knew I’d love.
- Nadine West: Nadine West’s try-on process was also smooth, and returns were also hassle free. However, the feedback I provided didn’t seem to be used in any way, and I continued to get shipments that largely didn’t fit my style. While the price point remained acceptable, by the third box I was ready to cancel my subscription. It really just didn’t fit what I was looking for even it if was easy and a huge time saving.
Conclusion: You Should Give it a Try!
In the realm of Stitch Fix and Nadine West, the choice boils down to your personal style, preferences, and budget. While Stitch Fix offers a high-end, quality-driven experience with a focus on curated clothing that seems truly made for you, Nadine West wins on packaging, abundance of options, and the lower price point.
As a mom of five navigating the unpredictable waters of entrepreneurship, I found joy in the personalized fixes sent by Stitch Fix and get excited when I know my next shipment is coming. It has helped me find less professional pieces that I can wear in my new professional life, or out with the kids, and they are easy to mix and match with my current style basics.
I suggest you sign up for both, grab a couple of orders and try it out for yourself, you never know which will fit you best, but ultimately, they are both WAY easier than trying on a million things at the mall to only bring home another comfy t-shirt!
